Across three concerts, Quatuor Danel traces the personal and political landscape of Shostakovich’s life through a selection of his string quartets – works he once described as a “diary”. This private world gives unguarded reflections ranging from fleeting joy to grief and introspection to resistance, sardonic humour and the grotesque.

C’est une expérience rare que proposent les quatuors Mosaïques et Danel : ces deux formations de référence allient leurs spécificités pour parcourir l’histoire du quatuor à cordes en France. Les premiers placent leurs archets recourbés anciens et leurs cordes en boyau au service des œuvres des pionniers méconnus Hyacinthe Jadin et Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga. Les seconds prennent leurs archets modernes et leurs cordes en métal pour interpréter les ultimes opus de la fin du romantisme (César Franck, Camille Saint-Saëns et Gabriel Fauré).
